Designing Exposure, the platform dedicated to digital photography in the NFT space

Exposure aims to revolutionize the way photographers showcase and sell their work in the digital space. The platform is designed to offer a dedicated space where curated collections from renowned photographers can be easily accessed and purchased by a global audience.

This platform is being developed for several reasons:

  • To create a unique and reliable space for photographers to present and monetize their digital art,
  • To provide collectors with an easy-to-use interface for discovering and acquiring high-quality photography,
  • To leverage new digital technologies to streamline transactions and enhance user experience.

In this project, my role was to lead the design phase of the Exposure platform, collaborating closely with the client to bring their vision to life.

I was responsible for defining the user experience, creating wireframes and prototypes, and ensuring that the platform's design was intuitive, visually appealing, and aligned with the needs of both photographers and collectors.

Discovery Phase

Exploring User Needs & Defining Insights

The discovery phase aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the platform's potential users. Exploratory interviews were conducted with NFT collectors who could be interested in the Exposure platform. In addition, an online survey was created to gather more quantitative data.

→ The results were then presented to the client to help define the next steps for the project.

Monetization Challenges: Photographers struggle to effectively monetize their digital work, often relying on traditional methods (e.g., prints, galleries) that don't fully tap into the digital market's potential.

Unique Value Proposition: Collectors are seeking exclusive, authentic, and verifiable digital art that holds long-term value.

Lack of Platform Support: Many photographers may feel that existing platforms don't offer adequate tools for promoting, selling, or protecting their work.

User Experience: Collectors are looking for a seamless, secure, and easy-to-navigate platform that simplifies the process of discovering and purchasing digital art.

Desire for Visibility: A need for a dedicated platform to gain exposure to global collectors, with an emphasis on showcasing high-quality photography.

Transparency & Trust: Trust in the authenticity and provenance of the artwork is key for collectors, particularly in digital spaces where verification can be difficult.

Discovery Phase

Designing the Exposure Platform

The conception phase focused on translating the insights from the discovery phase into tangible design solutions that align with both user needs and business objectives.

Building on the research insights, the first step was to define the core user flows for both photographers and collectors. Flowcharts and site maps (arborescence) were created to map the user's journey, from account creation to discovering and purchasing digital art. These diagrams helped visualize key interactions, decisions, and the most efficient paths users would take, ensuring a streamlined experience.

Delivery Phase: High-Fidelity Mockups

The final design was delivered through high-fidelity mockups showcasing the platform's user interface. These mockups included detailed layouts, visual elements, and interactions, ensuring the design was ready for development. They provided a clear, polished representation of the platform, aligning with both user needs and business goals.
